Blackberry “Magnum” Prototype
So it is true, their is such a thing as a Blackberry “Magnum” in the works. Its ideally a hybrid of the original Blackberry Bold and the Blackberry Storm. So picture a full QWERTY keyboard Smartphone with a touchscreen like the Storm.

This is Crazy – Homemade War Machine Suit
Someone actually took the time to create a replica of the War Machine suit. It looks similar to the one warn by Don Cheadle in the upcoming film Iron Man 2. Check out more photos here.
Time Lapse Video
I have seen a lot of time lapse videos in the past but nothing compared to this one created by Eirik So because it encompasses a whole year.
Adidas Originals: Star Wars Collection

Prayers Go Out to Haiti
Yesterday, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti and did unimaginable damage to an already impoverished nation (Photo from cnn.com). More then 100,000 people have been feared dead with several thousand more missing.
CNN actually has some great coverage and imagery detailing the events of this catastrophe.

Poker
The game of Texas Hold’em Poker definitely took off with its popularity this decade. Everyone and anyone was playing poker, whether it was online or with just a bunch of friends on a weekend. Poker tournaments were even being broadcast on sports channels, worldwide. I don’t know if I consider Poker as a sport but nonetheless it was popular. The following site contains “The 10 Best Poker Hands of the Decade” with video highlights for each.
The 10 Best Poker Hands of the Decade
Reality Television
It seems this whole decade has been dominated by reality television. When you flip through channels, their are tons of reality based programming. I’m not hating on it, because I enjoy many unscripted shows. It just amazes me that over this past decade how the face of television programming has drastically evolved.
Looking back, the one show that I think may not have started the trend, but at least made it more mainstream was the original Survivor, Borneo edition. I say this because MTV’s The Real World, maybe one of the first Reality TV shows. I think I was in Grade 9 when Survivor premiered on CBS. I remember everyone talking about it and how crazy it was and we are now in 2010 and their producing new versions of the show. It may not be as popular as it once was, but I think it paved the way for reality shows to be accepted in mainstream programming. After Survivor, shows like Big Brother, The Amazing Race, Fear Factor all appeared and were really successful with the ratings.
What made reality television so appealing?
Its because people can relate to the contestants whom appear to be average citizens unlike actors an actresses where their lives are scripted and almost fairytale like. I still vaguely remember the names of the original cast of Surivor. Obviously Richard Hatch, the first winner, Rudy the retired army Veteran. Jarvis the athletic councilor. Susan with her feisty attitude but I can’t seem to remember her job. Colleen, the adorable girl who later starred in some commercials and I think a movie with Rob Schneider. I can’t remember the last girl on this poster though.
Black Sabbath
The band fronted by Ozzy Osbourne had many notable hits. Probably the most memorable one is Iron Man, especially since the release of Marvel’s Iron Man Movie in 2008 greatly increased in popularity.
I remember listening to Black Sabbath, as a youth. Originally not by choice, it was perhaps my dads favourite band. So he would blast his Bose sound system every saturday to the tunes of Ozzy Osbourne’s unmistakable voice.
Perhaps my second favourite song was Paranoid
Lyndon Wade (www.lyndonwade.com)
Lyndon Wade is a photographer who I find inspirational. The way he portrays the subject in certain settings to bring out their personality is fascinating. The quality of the photographs is well done as well as you can see the detail. He also expresses his creativity with the backdrop setting he is shooting his subjects in. Most of the time he composites different elements to form the backdrop.
Sneakers
Not too long ago, I collected sneakers and it became a small addiction. Always checking hypebeast and other blogs to see what’s the new colourway coming out. When I stopped, I probably amassed about 35-40 sneakers in total, mostly consisting of different Nike models from air max’s to dunks (Like the one pictured above). I guess you can say I was a sneaker head, but not to the point as my other friends were, collecting the rarest and most expensive models. I had matching kicks for almost any colour in my wardrobe, like i said it was borderline addiction. Early in 2009, I simply stopped wearing all my sneakers and defaulted to either my black and white leather vans or my black and white high top patent leather Supra’s. As of late, all i want to wear are boots, especially my Clarks Desert boots. I guess it comes with age, progression of style, maturity of taste?
This post was inspired by just checking out hypebeast.com because I haven’t visited that site in ages. Seeing the upcoming releases don’t get me excited anymore, I simply can’t see myself wearing most of it.
I rather wear something like these nowadays,
With age, comes maturity.
Lulu X Russian Red
This is a photo I took of my girlfriend wearing her favourite Russian Red Lipstick, from MAC i think? Just a nice a simple shot. I let her edit it her own way and this is how it turned out. I think its really nice.
The Pacific
The Pacific is an upcoming mini-series on HBO, portraying World War 2 events in the Pacific between the Americans and the Japanese. It’s produced by the same producers as Band of Brothers (Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks) so it has a lot to live up too.
Check out the trailer below. The series premiers this March, I can’t wait !
New Artist – J.Cole
Who is J.Cole ?
For most people who follow mainstream Hip-Hop, that name may be foreign but in 2010, I am sure he’ll make his presence more known in the industry.
Jermaine Cole, otherwise known as J.Cole is the first artist signed to Jay-Z new record label, Roc Nation, which is distributed by concert kings Live Nation. With that kind of backing, from arguably one of the best MC’s ever in the rap game, pressure is sure to be at a boiling point. In 2009, he released a mix-tape appropriately titled “The Warm Up”, containing some lyrically impressive tracks that showcases his incredible word play and ability to tell his story. Those skills have garnered much comparison to unanimous 2009’s Rookie of the Year Drizzy Drake but I think their styles are completely different as well as their subject matter. Nonetheless, a good compliment.
An example of his witty lyrical approach is this video for his track Simba
On a side note, the directors of this video, BBGUN (Maxim Bohichik & Alex Bergman) do a great job on the cinematography. I really like their style and approach along with another up and coming director Rik Cordero for concentrating more on substance and the art of cinematography rather then the nice cars and the video vixens. The video itself is continuous with no cuts whatsoever which makes it different and visually stunning.
Blackberry Messenger
The current social craze is owning a blackberry and using its most popular application, Blackberry Messenger. Just a couple years ago, Blackberry’s were synonymous with people in business and their need to keep on top of emails while on the go. That same trait still holds today but now the Blackberry’s core customer base has drastically expanded to include everyone and anyone who want to be constantly updated with their own social spheres, whether it be on Facebook, Myspace, or Twitter. The main reason why most people get a Blackberry is for their popular Messenger application. This application has been around for awhile but ever since the latest version 5.0 was introduced late last year, the possibilities have greatly increased.
If you sit down at any mall, and just watch people go by, I guarantee that you’ll see several people walking and frantically typing on their qwerty keyboards and “pinning” their friends on their messenger list.
For some, its a known addiction to be constantly on their Blackberry, which I bet has caused some tension in many relationships.
Google’s launches Nexus-one smart phone.
Today Google released their Nexus-One smart phone, that is not supposed to be an industry breaker but rather an industry innovator? Google acknowledges that this phone will not have the same effect as when the iPhone launched 3 years ago, but they chose to improve on their existing android operating system. They encourage users to think differently, and consider their superior web search capabilities and fast application start-up speeds. Sounds similar to the marketing slogans for Google Chrome.
With the smart phone industry dominated by iPhones and Blackberry’s, the Nexus-One will be shuffled into the pack of little known nor used smartphones such as HTC’s and Palms.
Jersey Shore
I must be the hundred thousand person to blog about MTV’s new reality show, Jersey Shore. But how can you not check this show out with all the buzz surrounding it. Whether its the negative views from people whom feel that its giving off a bad stereotype of Italians in NY/NJ or the others who just find this show ridiculously funny, there is no doubt that MTV has a new hit show.
On side note, this show reminds me of this video,
Blog Re-launched
Its a new year, so what better time to start blogging again.
Its been awhile since I’ve blogged anything. As you can see, the post before all allude to my past Senior New Media project that I had to complete last year. My photography skills have definitely gotten better and I will be sharing new photos in my upcoming post.
